Richard Richard Gagnon was converted in 1985 while he worked in a machine shop. It is through the testimony of a working companion that he came to the knowledge of the faith and repentance to God, through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was raised in a Roman Catholic family and spent the first 21 years of his life within this religion, being faithful and very dedicated to his Church at that time.

Who really was Arminius?

tn Clip 01 Jun. 04 12James Arminius (Jacob Harmenszoon) is undoubtedly the most famous theologian ever produced by the Dutch Reformed Church. His fame is a great irony since the Dutch Reformed Church historically was a bastion of strict Calvinism and Arminius has given his name to a movement very much in opposition to historic Calvinism. Who was this Arminius? What did he teach? Are the differences between Calvinism and Arminianism important today?

Morality as a Clue to God - by Gregory Koukl

ScreenHunter 01 Apr. 22 16When faced with the facts, most people would say there are moral absolutes. That established, a whole set of world views become untenable, like Hinduism or atheism or agnosticism.

I’ve been talking about the issue of moral relativism this weekend which we have discussed frequently here on this show. I was speaking at Hope Chapel in Hermosa Beach this morning, last evening and Friday evening about how relativists are like people who have both feet planted in mid-air — those people who believe that morals are just the kind of thing that you make up yourself. After we were done with our analysis, I think it was pretty clear that relativism is a bankrupt moral point of view. It’s self-refuting. It’s self-defeating. It’s afflicted by serious counter examples.

No one is born an atheist. People choose to become atheists as much as they choose to become Christians. And no matter how strenuously some may try to deny it, atheism is a belief system. It requires faith that God does not exist.

When dialoguing with atheists, it is helpful to point out the logical problems inherent in their belief system. If you succeed in showing an atheist the natural outcome of some of his (or her) main claims and arguments, you are in a much better position to share the gospel with him. Let us consider two prime examples here.

Understanding Sanctification
Dr. Johnson C. Philip

ScreenHunter 01 Apr. 15 00An improper understanding of Justification produces spiritual bondage, and a wrong understanding of Sanctification produces spiritual subjectivity. Only a Biblical understanding of these doctrines will motivate us towards proper spiritual commitment.

The word ‘sanctification’ is derived from two Latin words, and it means “to make holy”. The predominant meaning of the Greek and the Hebrew words used for sanctification is “to set apart”. The same word-groups are translate holy, holiness, sanctify, saint, etc. This implies that we are sanctified or made holy by a process of setting us apart for God’s use. This setting apart of our lives is predominantly the work of the Holy Spirit who, in God’s grace, renews us every day so that we are enabled to die more and more unto sin and live unto righteousness. The ultimate aim of this daily process is to render us fully set apart for God. But this potential aim is never fully reached in this life due to the constant opposition of our threefold spiritual enemies-the World, the Flesh, and the Devil. God has made all provisions for our sanctification, but these enemies hinder us from appropriating these provisions fully so that we will never, in s life, fully reach our final target (Phil. 3:12-21).

What is Apologetics?

Apologetics is the reasoned defense of the Christian religion. Christianity is a faith which hinges upon reasons for that faith. Faith is not reason. Reason is not faith. But Faith cannot be dislocated from reason or faith ceases to exists. It is the mind’s understanding and assent to that understanding that lays the groundwork for the Spirit of God to regenerate the soul and implant faith. As God is rational in His dealing with men, so He made men rational thinking men. That does not mean Christians are to be rationalists, but rather, rational. Apologetics is the Rational Biblical Defense of Jesus Christ and His Word against Satanic philosophies (the cults (like Mormonism and Jehovah’s Witnesses), atheism, agnosticism, Stoicism, Socinianism, Roman Catholicism, etc…) which contest His veracity and His revealed will contained in the Bible.

Making Lemonade Out of Lemons:
Using the Talpiot Tomb as a Witness
By Dr. James White

ScreenHunter JThose with an interest in the subject of the resurrection have probably already seen the film, “The Lost Tomb of Jesus.” It’s been the topic of news articles, talk shows and water-cooler chats since it aired in early March. Christian apologists have been scrambling to correct the misinformation offered as fact in the film, but on a practical level, until the needed research and fact-checking is done, what is a Christian to do?
Rather than hope no one will ask you what you think, I believe we should be on the offensive-without being offensive. Let’s use this situation to God’s glory and for the proclamation of the truth. Below I’ve offered some simple answers to questions your neighbors may be asking.

Dr. Johnson C. Philip

ScreenHunter 01 Apr. 15 00 There is a common notion among the educated people that the Bible contains numerous Scientific errors. Because of this, many Bible-believing people have tried to compartmentalize the whole outlook about science and theology. They say that there is a “Scientific truth” believed by the world while there is a divine truth held by Christians. We have reasons to maintain that such a split-belief leads one to error both in science and in theology.

The best view on Bible and science has to be an integrated whole, not a split picture. For developing such an approach we must start with a right view of science as well as the Bible.

Recognize The Cults By Dr. Johnson C. Philip & Dr. Saneesh Cherian

A number of false cults are spreading around the world. Many of the cults claim themselves to be Christian, but they are far away from the Biblical Christianity. Such groups instead of providing their promised bliss, only take Christians away from Christ.
